I always come back to the role of the matches found at the scene. I can't help but wonder why the attacker attempted to set fire to the shack but failed so miserably. It's unsettling to think about what their intentions might have been. Was it simply to destroy evidence, or was there a more sinister reason behind wanting to burn the bodies?
It’s confusing because the attacker seems meticulous with pre-cut ropes and multiple shots, but then fumbles with setting a fire. Maybe this means they were inexperienced or panicked? I can’t imagine the anguish the families must have felt having so many questions left unanswered for all these years. How did those matchsticks manage to withstand time like a silent witness, and yet hold no answers? It’s really haunting to think about how close the case might have been to revealing something crucial had that fire succeeded. Does anyone have any theories about this failed attempt?
