I was reading up on old missing persons cases and the one about Moses Mailailua Kahiapo and Arthur Allen caught my attention. It's been over fifty years since they vanished, and what strikes me most is the recovery of their boat without a clue about what happened to them. The ocean can be so unpredictable, but to find an empty boat just adds layers of mystery to their disappearance. I'm curious if any new technology has been used to try and find them nowadays, like underwater drones or advanced sonar systems, considering the area around Heeia Kea Pier in Kaneohe is popular for fishing. Does anyone here know if there’s been any recent interest in reopening the investigation or if the case gets revisited by local authorities or historians? It's always tough when you have no closure, and I wonder if their families or friends ever got more answers.
Did anyone ever find out if Moses or Arthur had experienced engine trouble with their boat before this fateful trip? I read somewhere that boats of that size sometimes faced mechanical issues back in the day. Did anyone check if they had made any last-minute repairs or mentioned anything about the boat acting up to friends or family? I've been curious if there was ever any speculation beyond just the usual "bad weather" theories. It's just hard to imagine that their boat could be out there but not a single trace of what happened to them beyond it.
