Hey everyone, I've been closely following the Ruben Gallegos case and something that's been bugging me is the involvement of the Department of Defense Police Officer, Jenaro Torres. Isn't it odd that he showed up on a day he was supposed to be on leave, and in full uniform no less? From what I could gather, it seems like it's an aspect that might have been downplayed in the reporting of the case. I mean, why would someone who was on leave just decide to come to work in full gear? It makes you wonder about premeditation, right? Also, given the items found in Torres’s car, like the police scanner and the stun gun, it seems like overkill for just planning a robbery with a supposed participant. I can't help but feel more light needs to be shed on what was going on with Torres that day. Anyone else have thoughts on this angle or know if there was ever any psychological profiling done on him?
Does anyone recall if there was any public reaction or protest when Torres got his conviction overturned? I find it puzzling how a case with enough evidence to convict him originally could just reverse like that. Especially in a situation involving a young man's potential murder. I mean, we're talking about a guy who had almost all the stolen money and items belonging to Ruben in his car. How does that not stick in court? There must have been some serious complications.
Also, the plea deal that followed seems a bit light to me given the circumstances. I understand there were witness deaths, but the whole deal doesn't sit well. Did Ruben's family ever speak out about the retrial and how justice was served (or not) in their eyes? I've read about some families really pushing back in similar situations. It must be incredibly tough dealing with such an unresolved case and no real closure.
Hey everyone, I've been following Ruben Gallegos's case, and one detail that's sticking with me is the involvement of Jenaro Torres. It's baffling to think about how someone could be seen escorting Ruben out while not even supposed to be on duty that day. What are your thoughts on how Torres managed to plan this so meticulously? I mean, wearing a full uniform, carrying all that stuff in his car – it feels like he had thought this through, right?
Also, given that they found Ruben's personal belongings and nearly all the cash in Torres's car, it's haunting to think about what must have happened between them. But what really puzzles me is the absence of any direct evidence like blood or gunshot residue in the car. It feels like such a critical gap in building a concrete narrative of what went down.
Do you believe there's any merit to Torres's defense that Ruben might've been part of a heist gone wrong, or is it just a convenient fabrication? The fact that Ruben's never been in contact with his family since and hasn't used any of his financial resources makes it seem unlikely that he's in hiding, in my opinion. It's tragic there's been no closure after all this time, and with Torres's refusal to disclose any more details, it seems like such an uphill battle for Ruben's family. Thoughts?
