Ruben Gallegos, a 19-year-old cashier at the Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange, was last seen on May 1, 1992, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii. Originally from El Paso, Texas, Gallegos had moved to Hawaii to live with his sister and brother-in-law, working part-time at the Navy Exchange. On the day of his disappearance, he was assigned $80,000 to cash sailors' paychecks and was in his cashier's cage at the Pearl Harbor Submarine Base Exchange.
