I’ve been thinking a lot about the Maria Soto-Garcia case. It’s been almost a decade, and every time I drive by Bissonnet Street, I can't help but feel a sense of sadness. Although we don’t know much about her personal life, it’s clear she was a member of the community. What I find puzzling is the motive. Was it targeted, or just a senseless act of violence? If it was targeted, why? My heart goes out to Maria’s family and friends; I can’t imagine the pain they must still be feeling. If anyone has any more information around her relationships or any potential suspects, it could help piece together what happened that night. Stay safe out there, everyone.
