While browsing through updates on De Mendez's tragic case, I couldn't help but think about the community's responsibility in all this. It's been almost six years, and it's baffling that no crucial information has surfaced. I grew up in a neighborhood not too different from De's, and once a tragedy like this strikes, it leaves a permanent scar. It makes me wonder about the fear or mistrust that might stop people from coming forward. I'm hoping that someone who knows something will eventually find the courage to speak up. De's family deserves answers and peace, and the community owes it to them to help bring those answers to light.
