Has anyone else noticed how many missing person cases from the '80s linger with so many loose ends? I came across Penny Rae Schroff's case recently, and it’s just baffling how someone can vanish without a trace. One of the things that piqued my interest is the fact that Penny had been edentulous since she was 19. I wonder if this could have hindered identifying her if any unidentified remains were found over the years? It seems like such a clear identifier. It's frustrating to think that maybe even dental records could be incomplete because of this. With the case spreading through databases like NamUs, I hope more attention is drawn to these details that could lead to some progress, even after all this time. Such a haunting mystery.
I recently stumbled upon Penny Rae Schroff’s case, and something about it really makes me wonder. Did anyone else find it odd that she went missing so soon after being last seen at a local bar? Santa Barbara wasn’t as big as it is now back in 1984, so it feels like someone must have seen something.
I'm curious if anyone has details about that bar she was last seen at. Was it a regular hangout spot for her? It seems strange to me that nobody came forward with any solid information about her interactions or who she was with that night. I’ve been going through old articles and any information I can find, but there’s so little detail about her movements.
Also, I'm trying to piece together the community in that area back then—did anyone on here live around there or have family who did? It could be helpful to understand what the local vibe was and whether any changes around town (businesses closing, new developments) affected the investigation or people remembering the events more clearly. Would love to hear any insights or if someone has access to old directories or newspapers with more clues. Let's keep her name and story alive; every detail might help.
