Hey everyone, I've been following Jeanette Watkins' case since I came across it in an old article, and one thing that really stood out to me is the role of the media back in the '90s vs. now. It seems like her case didn't get as much national attention back then, which is such a contrast to how similar cases are handled today with social media and 24-hour news cycles. Do you all think if it happened in today's age, the increased media scrutiny and public engagement might have led to quicker developments or even a resolution? I've read that Buffalo PD is trying to use social media to get tips now, but it's just baffling how much wasn't available back then. I'm curious if anyone else has thoughts on how this shift might impact cold case investigations like Jeanette's.
