Has anyone looked into the possibility of Johnson and Marie being targeted because of something they learned or witnessed at Buch’s Tavern? I sometimes wonder if there might have been shady dealings going on there that night. Bars can be such a crossroads of people, and who knows what they might have overheard or seen before leaving. I've read about cases where the victims just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, overhearing a conversation or seeing something they shouldn't have. Especially given that Marie’s cause of death was established as a gunshot wound, it makes me think this was more than just an accident. It's so frustrating that there are so many possibilities with so little evidence to go on. My heart goes out to Johnson's daughter and their families. To still be seeking answers after all these years must be incredibly hard. I hope someday they receive the answers they've been waiting for. ?

Hey everyone, I've been diving deep into the Hubert Johnson and Murel Marie case from 1969, and something that's been on my mind is the location. Mead's Quarry, which is now part of Ijams Nature Center, is such an isolated spot even today. Can anyone shed light on what the area was like back in the late '60s? I'm curious if it was a common hangout or considered a risky place to go. It feels so unsettling that they ended up in such a remote area. Did they encounter someone they knew, or was it just random chance? This quarry setting seems like such a critical detail, yet it’s hard to grasp its role without understanding the context of that era. If anyone has insights or stories about Mead’s Quarry from that time, or anyone who remembers it, I’d love to hear more. It's so important to get all possible perspectives as we think about how to bring justice to Hubert and Murel. Thanks!
