I’ve been reading about Vince Terry's case, and I'm troubled by how systemic issues may have contributed to this tragedy. It seems like Pittsburgh was grappling with some really deep-rooted problems back in 2008. What stands out to me is how many of the victims had been involved with human services before their deaths. It’s hard not to think about how Vince might have benefited from more effective community support systems. It's tough to see how these critical services were possibly overwhelmed or under-resourced during a time when they were so needed. My heart goes out to Vince’s loved ones and to the entire community dealing with these issues. It's clear that broader changes were/are necessary to prevent such losses in the future.
