Does anyone have any more theories about the possibility of Mary wandering off towards Highway 278 instead of just sticking around Main Street or the local areas nearby? I'm pretty curious about why the scent seemed to lead out that way but then nothing came from those searches. Could it be possible she got turned around while walking, especially given her Alzheimer's symptoms? Maybe she tried to retrace her steps and ended up moving farther away unintentionally? Also, has anyone looked into whether there were reports of similar cases around that time? It's such a tragic mystery and I can't help but wonder if we're missing a connection somewhere.
I was reading about Mary Alice Dixon's case, and something that struck me was the role of her Alzheimer's in her disappearance. It seems it wasn't officially diagnosed yet, but her family noticed signs. I'm curious if anyone here has thoughts on the challenges of searching for someone with cognitive impairments like hers. It's heartbreaking to think she might have been disoriented and wandering without a sense of direction. Could the false report in 2006 imply confusion from other similar cases? Alzheimer's seems to really complicate finding missing persons. What do you all think?
Has anyone been following the Mary Alice Dixon case? I recently stumbled upon an article mentioning how dogs were able to pick up her scent along Highway 278, but from what I gather, the trail just went cold. Does anyone know if they ever brought in more advanced scent-tracking specialists or utilized technology like drones to scout the area more thoroughly? With so much time passed, I'm curious if new techniques or resources have become available that could provide fresh insights. It's a cliche, but sometimes revisiting old cases with new eyes (or tech) can help turn up unexpected results. Thoughts?
