Terry Walker, a 51-year-old Black man from Birmingham, Alabama, was found unresponsive in the grass outside a residence at 2522 Avenue F in the Ensley neighborhood on the evening of Friday, October 29, 2010. West Precinct officers responded to a person down just after 8:10 p.m.; paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Jefferson County Coroner determined Walker died of a gunshot wound and classified the death a homicide. What began as a person down call became a shooting investigation, and detectives have been working to reconstruct the final moments that led to a man being shot in a residential yard. At the time of the reports there had been no arrests or charges and police were asking anyone who might have seen or heard anything unusual on Avenue F that night to come forward.
If anyone was on or near Avenue F that evening and saw or heard something that could help, please share what is known.
