Does anyone else find it curious how George Hawkins was well-known in his community, yet vanished without anyone noticing anything out of the ordinary? I've been looking into some old newspaper archives, and it’s surprising how little there was in terms of eyewitness accounts. You'd think someone would have seen him or his car that day. I wonder if anyone has looked into the possibility of him having been involved in something more secretive or private that he kept from even his close friends and family. Maybe something happened during his errands that day that led him off the usual path. It's just baffling that in such a close-knit community, no solid leads came forward. If anyone is local to Newport or has access to older news clippings or archives, it might be worth seeing if there were any overlooked details or smaller stories that didn’t get much attention back then. Just trying to help solve this puzzle piece by piece.
