Has anyone else noticed how strange it is that Mary's case wasn't officially opened until 2002, even though she disappeared back in 1965? I mean, 37 years is such a long time to go without anyone having any formal record of her being missing. It makes me wonder if there were societal issues back then that prevented it from being reported sooner. Or maybe it was a family decision not to report her? Given her marital issues and her husband's supposed violent nature, could there have been fear of retaliation if questions were raised back then? It's such a different time now, and I can't help but think how advances in protocols might have changed the trajectory of her case. Anyone else have thoughts on this, or do you know of any other cases where it took so long to be reported?

Has anyone looked into the photo Mary left at her sister's place in Muskegon? It's been bugging me since I first read about it. I've heard family photos can sometimes hold clues, like locations or hidden messages. Sometimes people might signify a special goodbye or hint at something important with them. Also, what was the photo of, exactly? Was it just a standard pic with her family or something else? I wonder if investigators ever did any in-depth analysis or if this got lost as a potential lead because of how long it took for the case to be reported. If anyone has any updates or thoughts on this angle, I'd love to hear about it!

I'm really puzzled by the case of Mary Jean McLaughlin. One detail that stands out to me is her visit to her kids at school right before she vanished. It seems unusual for someone planning to take off without a trace. I wonder if that was her way of protecting them in some way, reassuring them she'd be back when she knew she wasn't planning to. Seems suspicious that she left a photo at her sister’s place too, almost like she was leaving a trail. Could it have been a message? I can’t imagine how her family felt during those years, especially when her disappearance went unreported for so long. It makes me question the dynamics within the family and if more could have been done sooner to find out what happened to her. Does anyone have thoughts on why someone would leave a photo behind? Could it be significant?
