Has anyone else noticed the conflicting reports about Christopher Martin King’s route through Mexico? I've dug around a bit, and there seems to be some confusion. Some sources say he was supposed to stick mainly around the coastal areas, like La Paz and Isla Mujeres, while others hint he might have detoured towards Mexico City and Guadalajara. I find it odd that no one managed to pinpoint his whereabouts, especially considering those are fairly well-travelled routes. Did he possibly share his plans with anyone else on that bus from Tijuana who might remember more details about his intended path? If anyone has come across old travel logs or bus records from 1974, it might shed some light on which path he actually took. This might be a long shot years later, but you never know when a small detail could lead to a break in the case. Thoughts?

I was reading about Christopher Martin King's disappearance from 1974, and something that caught my attention is the mention of the red nylon backpack with all his camping gear. It's pretty impressive how prepared he was for his journey, which makes me wonder why there's been no trace of him found all these years. You'd think with all that gear, something would have turned up by now, especially if he was camping along the way. I also find it puzzling that someone so well-equipped could just vanish without leaving any clues behind. Has anyone come across similar cases where a traveler with a lot of gear disappears, and none of it ever shows up? It's so baffling.

I’ve been deeply intrigued by the Chris King case ever since I stumbled upon it, mainly because his story seems to capture that sense of adventure that took an unexpected turn. Something that caught my attention was his choice of travel gear. Back in 1974, not a lot of folks were doing the whole backpacking thing with specific gear like a red nylon backpack! It's a pretty distinct choice, so it's odd that someone hasn't come forward with memories of bumping into him. I've been thinking, for a guy as prepared as he seemed to be, venturing into Mexico with all his camping gear and a plan suggests he was truly up for the journey and the challenges it might bring. Was it possible he blended in too well with other travelers, or did his preparedness make him a target? I've been looking into reports from that era to see if there was an uptick in criminal activity along those routes. Would love to hear if anyone else has tried following that angle or if there are any similar cases from the 70s of travelers going missing under comparable circumstances. It just seems odd that someone that distinctly equipped disappeared without leaving a trace.
