Lazerrick D. Ratliff, age 28, was fatally shot on October 2, 2016, in the Lawndale neighborhood on Chicago's West Side. The incident occurred in the afternoon at around 4:00 PM, specifically in the 2000 block of South Homan Avenue. Ratliff was struck by gunfire in the back and subsequently taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. This tragic incident was one of many that contributed to Chicago's escalating gun violence crisis that year.
