I've been down a rabbit hole lately with Cherita Thomas's case, and one aspect that's gnawing at me is the blue pickup truck. I mean, it's such a distinctive vehicle, right? Ausable Township wasn't exactly teeming with them back in 1980. I know Jimmie Nelson had a blue truck and got tangled up in this, but there had to be more blue trucks in the area. Has anyone looked into whether there were other similar vehicles owned by folks with shady pasts or anyone connected to the bars or softball games that night? It seems like such a pivotal detail. Also, has there ever been any clarification on whether the babysitter had any recollections or insights that were unreported or overlooked? It just seems like a crucial angle that might have slipped through the cracks. Would love to hear thoughts or any new insights others might have on this.
Hey everyone, I just came across Cherita Thomas's case from 1980, and something has been puzzling me. Why did it take so long for Jimmie Nelson to become a person of interest? I get that authorities initially focused on other suspects, but given his connection to the babysitter and the ownership of a blue truck, it seems odd that he wasn't looked into more thoroughly from the start. Plus, with his known racial hostility, you'd think he would have been a more immediate suspect, especially in a case that might have had racial motives. Do you all think there were any biases or oversights that delayed looking into him initially? It's troubling to think that crucial time and resources might have been wasted on the wrong leads. Would love to hear other thoughts on this!
Hey everyone,
I was diving deep into Cherita Thomas's case again and stumbled upon something intriguing about her babysitter's brother-in-law, Jimmie Nelson. I find it odd that he initially helped in Cherita's search and then started giving conflicting stories about that night. I mean, why would someone change their story unless they had something to hide? More suspicious is the fact that he owned a blue truck—the same type seen when Cherita disappeared.
Though his conviction was overturned, I'm curious if anyone else has any thoughts on his involvement or maybe knows more about the new evidence that led to his release? It's frustrating that the details are still sealed. Does anyone think it might hold the key to finally solving this case? ?
