I keep going back to the timeline of when Debra was last seen. It's unsettling that she disappeared in broad daylight, right from her family’s home. You would think someone might have seen something, even the smallest detail could be crucial. It's also strange how her mother waited two days to report her missing, though I’m sure she had her reasons. In small towns like Lebanon, people tend to notice when things are off, yet silence seems to have prevailed.
The fact that all of Debra's personal belongings were left behind suggests she didn’t plan to leave. I feel like that should have been a huge red flag from the start, instead of jumping to the runaway theory. Just how often are authorities too quick to label cases as runaways, only to later find out how serious it truly was? It makes me wonder, if her case had been treated with more urgency, could things have turned out differently?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been diving into Debra's case recently, and what really stands out to me is the timing of when her mother reported her missing. Why wait until two days later? I mean, I get that back in 1981 it wasn’t as common to report someone missing right away, especially if they thought she ran away. But with everything that happened to her sister Frances later, it just makes you wonder if there were warning signs being overlooked or if there was more going on in that household. Also, could any other family members or friends have seen something between the 29th and the 31st that didn't seem important at the time? Just curious if anyone has thought much about that angle or has heard anything from locals down in Lebanon about those crucial two days.
Hey everyone,
I've been delving into Debra's case and something that really sticks with me is the timeline. She was last seen on August 29, 1981, yet wasn't reported missing until two days later on August 31. I can't help but wonder if those initial 48 hours might have influenced how her case was approached. At first, it was considered a runaway situation. Maybe if she had been reported missing sooner, things might have been different?
I don't want to speculate too much, but given the later reclassification of her case, those days seem pretty crucial. Also, how did the relationship between Debra and Beebout, who is such a shady character, go unnoticed before all this happened? With her sister's tragic death a couple of years later and the connection to him, it's alarming to think he slipped through the cracks for so long.
Does anyone else have thoughts on how the initial delay and classification as a runaway could have impacted the investigation? It's troubling to look back and see how these things unfolded.
