I've been thinking about how backcountry skiers prepare for emergencies, and it makes me wonder about Stuart Garbowitz's tragic case. In 1982, safety gear and communication devices weren't nearly as advanced as today. If Stuart had a GPS device or an avalanche beacon on him, could it have changed the outcome? It’s frustrating to think how technology might have answered so many questions that have lingered for decades. Has anyone here ever found themselves in a similar situation where modern tech made a difference? It seems like these tools are essential now, but back then, people were really at the mercy of the elements. What do you all think?
