I’ve been following Eric Young’s case from the beginning, and it's truly difficult to comprehend. It’s troubling to learn that he had already been through so much, like surviving that previous attempt on his life just a few weeks before. It’s easy to overlook such threats as just random events, but now, in hindsight, it’s clear how vulnerable he was. There are so many questions surrounding the lack of effective protection measures for Eric after that first incident. It makes me wonder about the real challenges authorities face in shielding young people who are at risk, especially when circumstances point to someone possibly being targeted. How can we expect these teenagers to focus on their futures—like school or sports—when such a cloak of danger looms over them? I hope this tragedy prompts a serious examination of protective systems in place, not just for Eric’s sake, but for all at-risk youth in Pittsburgh and beyond. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and the community who are undoubtedly struggling with this heavy loss.

Has anyone heard anything new about Eric Young's case? I can't stop thinking about the lack of motive being shared by the police. It just haunts me that someone so young with a promising future could be targeted, and it seems like Eric knew this person. It makes me wonder about his relationships, maybe there was someone he trusted that led him down a dangerous path without him even realizing it. The detail about him surviving an attempt on his life just weeks before is chilling. It's like there was a ticking clock over his head that no one could stop, despite attempts to keep him safe. I've read about the CISP van incident, and it just breaks my heart to know the danger he was in. I can't imagine what his mother is going through, being right there when it happened. Does anyone know if there are community initiatives being strengthened as Mayor Peduto mentioned? Our neighborhoods need to come together now more than ever.
