Has anyone considered the possibility that there might have been underwater currents or obstacles beneath the surface where Gerald attempted to swim? I know the Mississippi River can have some powerful and unpredictable currents, especially near those barges. It's such a risky area for swimming. Maybe that's why no trace of him has ever been found. I wonder if officials ever used sonar technology or any kind of underwater search team when they were looking for him. It would be great if there were more records available on the search efforts at the time. Anyone else in here have thoughts or experience with river searches in that area?
