I’ve been following Joan Shelton's case for a while, and something I've been curious about is the area around the assisted living facility where she was last seen. Given that she's an avid hiker, has anyone delved into what nearby trails or natural features were within walking distance of the facility? The Catalina Foothills has so many nooks and crannies; I wonder if she might’ve been drawn to a particular spot that was meaningful to her or perhaps overlooked in the investigation. Also, were the partial remains found anywhere near popular hiking paths, or were they off the beaten track? Nature can camouflage so much, and it seems like, with her love for hiking, Joan might have ventured somewhere that didn’t stand out at first glance. Any local hikers have insights or a map of the area from around that time?

I recently came across the case of Joan Shelton, and something about it struck me. She was an avid hiker, yet she disappeared under strange circumstances near an assisted living facility. I can’t help but wonder if her love for hiking played a role in her vanishing. Did she spontaneously decide to explore a nearby trail and unfortunately find herself in trouble? It just seems unusual for someone with her experience to get lost or encounter serious issues. The partial remains found in 2008 have left so many unanswered questions. I'm curious to hear what others think about this angle of the case. Could there be hidden trails or areas nearby that aren't well-known to searchers, even after all this time?

I've been following the Joan Shelton case since it first came to light, and something that really piques my curiosity is her love for hiking. I've read in a few articles that Joan was especially familiar with local trails in the Catalina Foothills area. It makes me wonder, given her experience, if she might have ventured out intentionally to explore a specific spot she loved and something unexpected happened. I know the remains found in 2008 were hard to identify, and there isn't much on where exactly they were recovered from. Does anyone know if there were any efforts to search specific trails she frequented after she went missing? I'm just thinking there might be a chance that, despite her familiarity with the area, even experienced hikers can run into unforeseen problems. Would love to hear any thoughts or details others may have stumbled upon regarding her favorite hiking trails and if they were thoroughly searched back then.
