Has anyone else been looking into the potential link between the Wheatley case and other similar crimes in the area during that time? It seems that there were a few home robberies in North Portland around the late '80s, and I can't help but wonder if there's a possibility of these being connected. The fact that the credit cards were used post-murder makes me think the perpetrators could have been more local and might have had a pattern of targeting homes under the guise of interested buyers. The "For Sale by Owner" sign scenario is just chilling.
It's so unsettling to think how trusting Robert and Frieda could have been in a moment that led to such tragedy. Does anyone remember hearing about any other for-sale properties being targeted in a similar way back then? My heart goes out to their family, especially their granddaughter, who had to discover something so dreadful. This case has haunted the community for too long, and someone must know something that could help bring closure.
I've been reading through the details of the Robert and Frieda Wheatley case, and something that keeps bothering me is the use of their credit cards after their tragic murder. It's so eerie to think someone was out there spending the Wheatleys' money, all while the police were still piecing together what had happened. How can someone have that level of callousness? It's unsettling.
I wonder if anyone witnessed these transactions taking place. Surveillance cameras in stores were not as common back in 1988, so it might have been much harder to catch someone in the act. But if they were using those cards out in public, someone might remember seeing something unusual that could help the investigation.
It's really important we spread the word about the continued desire for tips in this case. It's been decades, but the family deserves answers and some semblance of peace. If anyone has information they thought was insignificant back then, it might be worth sharing now. You never know what might help finally solve this case.
