I was just reading more about the Betty Marie Roberts case. Something that really stood out to me is the career opportunity that lured her away. Traveling photography gigs in the late '50s weren't exactly the norm, right? I mean, I get the appeal—seeing new places and breaking free from the routine—but it does make me wonder how persuasive this Charles Wegman (or Dennison) must have been. Could there have been other women drawn in by similar job offers, or was it just a unique scenario? Just curious if anyone else thinks there might be a pattern here or if it's a coincidence that ended tragically. Also, I would love to know if anyone has come across similar cases from that time period or even just stories of people taken in by such offers. Anyone have thoughts or leads?
I've been digging into the Betty Marie Roberts case, and something that's been puzzling me is the letter Betty sent to her sister from Baltimore. I mean, it's the last concrete piece of evidence we have of her whereabouts before she vanished. I wonder if there's been any analysis of the handwriting to confirm it was genuinely from Betty? Or if any trace of fingerprints or other identifiers were preserved? It's such an intriguing part of the story because it represents the last known connection between Betty and her family. I also can't shake the thought that perhaps Wegman/Dennison might have played a role in dictating or even writing the letter himself. It opens so many questions about what really went on in Baltimore and what happened after that letter was sent. Thoughts?
