I agree. The missing car is suspicious. The obvious conclusion would be that he crashed into a waterway and has been submerged for fifty-five years. I think it'd be interesting to know where exactly Johnnie and his wife were living at the time he vanished. I was able to find an address of the house he grew up in and they were indeed living with his parents at that address, it would have only been a three-minute drive between there an the 700 block of West Cedar Street where the party was held. The area appears to be a densely-populated residential suburb. The nearby harbor is about ten minutes north and would have required him to drive in the total opposite direction if he was headed home. Not impossible, but it's not quite the same as living in a remote rural area with tons of lakes, rivers and woods where such accidents are more commonplace with no one seeing or hearing anything.
Someone did actually post something on Facebook in late 2024 asking for information about Johnnie's case that I've never seen listed anywhere else. The author says her friend was actually with Johnnie's wife Annette that night. Johnnie apparently stopped somewhere to call Annette and ask if she needed anything before he came home. She said no, and he said he'd see her in a few. Obviously, he never arrived. Since there was an alleged sighting if him at the nearby McDonald's he frequented, I wonder if that's where he stopped to use the pay phone to make that call. The Facebook thread is linked below:
