I've been deeply moved thinking about the courage and tenacity Catherine Ashford must have had just to try and live a peaceful life away from her ex-husband. It's chilling to know that despite taking all those steps to protect herself—changing her name, getting a protective order—she still fell victim in such a tragic way. There must be a record of who had access to her new identity and contact information. Is it possible someone close or someone in authority inadvertently let her ex come close again? The fact that her daughter had to find her like that is beyond distressing. I hope sharing and revisiting Catherine's case might spark someone's memory or courage to come forward with crucial information to finally offer the family some form of justice and closure.
