Has anyone else been intrigued by the small window of time between when Packer went missing and when his car was found? It's only a week! I’ve been digging into old newspaper archives, and it's odd that there's hardly any mention of weather conditions during that period that might explain why the search didn't start sooner. The fact that the car was discovered near the East Verde River makes me wonder if local searches were affected by the environment or if there were any other disappearances in that area. It's a large, rugged region, and could the car's location hint at a planned stop on his way to the Pacific Northwest? Anyone with insights into the geography there during the late '70s? It might give us more clues about what happened to Packer.

I find it really puzzling that Packer didn't let his parents or anyone else know about his extended vacation plans. I mean, it was the 70s, so maybe it was common to not leave detailed itineraries, but still. If his car was found so quickly after he went missing, it's odd that it took two whole months for anyone to realize he was gone. It makes me wonder about the state of communication back then or if perhaps there was some underlying family dynamic involved. I feel like leaving a car with the keys still in the ignition is just asking for attention—or maybe there's more to the story that we don't know. Really curious to hear what others think about the car situation and why it might've been abandoned like that.

Has anyone looked into the weather conditions around the East Verde River area on December 12, 1978? I'm wondering if there were any significant weather patterns that might have affected Packer's plans. If he was heading into the area for an outdoor adventure, unexpected weather could have seriously altered his route or timeline. It’s also curious how the vehicle was found so soon after he went missing, yet nobody realized he was gone until February. I feel like weather can sometimes play a bigger role than we imagine, especially back then when forecasting wasn’t as advanced. Would be interesting if any local news archives from that time mention anything unusual!
