Does anyone else find it strange that William Hennig wasn't reported missing until February 1981, even though he vanished in July 1980? That's almost seven months! I'm curious whether this delay was because of his job in insurance—maybe his family thought he was just on an extended business trip and would come back when he finished? But still, that's quite a long time to go without contact, especially if he was planning to head to Fort Lauderdale for work. Did anyone ever confirm if he really had business there or was that just something he said? I wonder if this could have contributed to the difficulties in tracking his movements afterward.
Has anyone looked into potential sightings of William R. Hennig in California right after his disappearance? Given the nature of his work in insurance, I wonder if he was trying to pursue a new opportunity or if someone convinced him to travel there under false pretenses. The 1980s were such a different time in terms of communication and record-keeping that maybe he felt starting fresh somewhere was a real option or he wound up at the wrong place. Plus, California being so sprawling, it makes me think there might still be people out there who saw him or remember him around that time, especially given his distinctive scar. Just throwing this out there, but has anyone come across anything from those early days in California?
Hey everyone, just wanted to bring up something odd I found while digging into William R. Hennig's case. I came across a mention that he sometimes wore a hairpiece. Do any of you think his use of a hairpiece might have been something more than just for appearance? Maybe it was a way to disguise himself? I'm not suggesting he planned on going missing, but could he have used it to slip away unnoticed if he was in trouble? Or maybe someone used it as a disguise to make it look like he was somewhere he wasn't? Just tossing around ideas here. What do you all think about how the hairpiece could play into his disappearance? Any insight would be appreciated!
