Wendy Lynn Huggy was 16 when she disappeared from Clearwater, Florida. She was last seen April 7, 1982, after her grandmother dropped her off near her uncle’s apartment complex at Nursery and Belcher Roads. Later that day she went to Clearwater Beach with a friend and the friend’s mother, then got a ride from the beach to Countryside Mall and called her grandfather to say a man named Don would drive her home. She never arrived.
Wendy was pregnant at the time and was wearing turquoise jewelry; she had a distinctive circular scar on her left thigh from a dog bite. She had recently moved back to Florida from Illinois after an unhappy marriage and was living with her grandparents in Holiday. Family members reported her missing but police initially treated the case as a runaway; after years passed without contact investigators began to suspect foul play. Dental comparisons were done with unidentified remains but no match produced an identification and no suspects have been named.
Wendy’s whereabouts remain unknown; does anyone in the Clearwater or Holiday area remember her, the man named Don, or events around April 7, 1982?
