Has anyone looked into the possibility that Lloyd Gilsdorf Jr. was scammed or involved in something more sinister with that supposed job offer? It strikes me as really odd that the letter sent to the Houston contact was returned undeliverable. Seems unlikely that a legitimate company or representative wouldn't have a stable address. Could this be a case of someone impersonating a recruiter to target him specifically, maybe because they knew he was vulnerable after his divorce? I wonder if there were other similar cases around that time where people were promised work under false pretenses. I’d love to hear if anyone’s dug into missing persons or similar scams around the 80s in the Gulf region. It's a long shot, but patterns can sometimes reveal unexpected connections.
