Lloyd Raymond Gilsdorf Jr., a 31-year-old man, disappeared on July 29, 1984, from Pensacola, Florida. Gilsdorf had informed his parents that he received a phone call from a man in Houston, Texas, offering him a job on an offshore oil rig. He was excited for the opportunity as he had recently gone through a divorce and was attempting to rebuild his life. The man from Houston reportedly sent Gilsdorf a prepaid bus ticket to travel to New Orleans, where he was supposed to meet someone who would take him to the job site.
Gilsdorf boarded a Trailways bus in Pensacola, but it remains unclear whether he ever reached his destination in New Orleans. After several months with no contact, his mother grew concerned and sent a registered letter to the man in Houston who had arranged the job. The letter was returned as undeliverable. Gilsdorf was officially reported missing by his family on January 10, 1985, nearly six months after his disappearance.
There is suspicion of foul play in his case. His family believes he may have been lured under false pretenses and possibly murdered. Gilsdorf had distinct features at the time of his disappearance, including long hair in a "hippie" style, a mustache, and a full beard. He also had tattoos of Snoopy on his left arm and a zigzag pattern on his right arm. Despite efforts to find him, Gilsdorf's case remains unsolved.
