I’ve been following the case of Sedric Dennis, and I keep thinking about his impact as an educator. It’s so clear from everything I’ve read and heard how deeply he touched the lives of his students. As a teacher myself, I realize how meaningful those connections can be. His dedication to both St. Mary's and City College shows a passion for education that can’t be overstated. What really stands out to me is his work in African history. In a time when culturally important subjects often get sidelined, Dennis was a beacon of knowledge and inspiration. I can only imagine how many students he influenced to pursue studies they might not have considered otherwise. It’s such a profound loss, not only to those who knew him personally but also to the broader community that benefited from his dedication and knowledge. Sending strength to his family, colleagues, and students who are undoubtedly feeling this loss in ways most of us can only imagine.
