Does anyone else find it extremely odd that Rachanda’s stepfather, John Ackroyd, was so willing to report her missing a day later? I mean, usually, when a kid doesn’t show up or calls home, it sets off alarm bells immediately, especially with someone so young like Rachanda. It makes you wonder if he was trying to cover his tracks or if there were other reasons for the delay. The fact that she had bruises, allegedly from him, adds another disturbing layer to the situation. It’s frustrating that Ackroyd didn't give any answers even after all those years. Could there have been any places in the surrounding area or maintenance station that he might have had access to and could have hidden evidence? I’ve read that Santiam Junction is pretty secluded, which might have worked to his advantage. Just thinking out loud here about what might have been overlooked in the initial investigation.
Hey everyone,
I've been reading more about Rachanda Lea Pickle's case, and something that really struck me is the timing when she was reported missing. It wasn't until the day after she vanished that anyone reached out to authorities. I can't help but wonder why there was such a delay. Was it because her mom was at work and trusting in Ackroyd's words when he came back alone? Or was there something else going on that left the alarm bells silent until the next day?
Given the signs of abuse and the environment she was in, it's unsettling to think what might have been overlooked or hidden. I know hindsight is 20/20, but a sooner response might have changed the investigation's trajectory. It's so frustrating thinking about what could have been different. If anyone knows more about who else might have been around during that time or if there were any supposed sightings after she was last seen, I'd love to hear your insights.
