I've been thinking about the case of Walter Doucet lately, and it's so saddening that it's still unsolved after all these years. One thing that puzzles me is how there were apparently no witnesses or noise reported from that night. It's a residential neighborhood—1540 Grand Park Avenue—and I'd imagine someone might have heard something unusual. Does anyone know if the neighbors at the time were ever interviewed, or if anyone came forward with potential clues? I feel so deeply for his family, who must still wonder about what happened. If anyone remembers anything from back then, no matter how small, it could be vital to finally bring peace to Walter's loved ones. Let's hope more people start talking about this case again and someone out there has the courage to share what they know.
I’ve been digging through old newspapers and community archives about the Walter Doucet case, and something really struck me about how the neighborhood residents reacted back then. From what I understand, Grand Park Avenue was a pretty tight-knit community in 1960. There are mentions of neighbors being very vigilant after the incident, but over time, the vigilance faded along with the neighborhood's memories of the incident.
I can't help but feel for the people who must have lived in fear after Walter's murder. Imagine feeling unsafe in your own neighborhood where everyone knew each other so well. It must have shaken them deeply, and their sense of security was likely shattered, potentially for years. If any longtime residents from the area are reading, I’d love to hear your reflections on how this tragedy impacted the community and if there are any stories passed down that might have not made it into public records. Maybe there’s something significant that’s been overlooked? ?️‍♂️?️
