I’ve been following April Irene Vlk's disappearance for a long time, and something that sticks out to me is the church encounter. Why would April ask for a piece of cardboard to hitchhike without shoes? It just seems such a vulnerable state to be in if you’re planning a journey as daunting as from South Carolina to D.C. I wonder if she encountered someone on the way offering help that ended up harmful. Also, the $20 given to her—did she ever get a chance to buy shoes, or did something happen first? There’s so little information about what happened after she left the church, and it's such a critical gap that could hold answers. Thoughts?
