I've been digging into the case of Rene Perez Jr. and Cecilia Newball, and I'm puzzled by the letter supposedly from Cecilia. How likely is it that someone could have fabricated it to throw off the investigation? From what I understand, handwriting analysis and the type of paper used can sometimes provide clues, but I can't find much info about whether they looked into these details back in 1994. It's so perplexing because if the letter was indeed a fake, that shifts the focus entirely onto someone who had the means and motive to do so. Does anyone know if there were any follow-ups or studies on the letter itself in later years, or maybe technology that could give it a second look for clues we might have missed?
