I was digging through old true crime cases and came across the George Dewey Lane disappearance. Something that really caught my attention is how organized he seemed. Leaving his desk neatly arranged before stepping out is a pretty significant detail to me. It makes me wonder if he was planning to come back or was maybe trying to leave things in order if he knew something was going to happen. And the fact that he never picked up his last paycheck is strange. I find it hard to believe that someone would just walk away from money unless they couldn't return for some reason. Anyone else think there's more to his mention of trouble with neighbors? It's just baffling how there are so few details about his life outside of work. Any local San Diegans have insights into the neighborhood issues around that time?
