Hey everyone,
I've been delving into Edwin Smith's case from 1982 and something has stuck with me - the location of his murder. The intersection of Laton Street and East Avenue. Does anyone else find it strange that this happened in what seems to be a fairly public area? I'm wondering if anyone local to Akron remembers what that neighborhood was like during the early '80s?
Was it a busy area where someone might have seen or heard something, or more deserted, making it easier for the suspect to escape unnoticed? It seems like such a bold place for an altercation to escalate to murder. Was it known for any particular kind of activity at that time that might give clues as to why the altercation turned deadly there?
My heart truly goes out to Edwin's family and friends who have waited decades for answers. Any insights or memories you might have could be incredibly valuable. Let's keep this conversation going in the hopes of finding some resolution for them.
Stay safe, everyone.
Hi everyone,
I’ve been looking into Edwin Smith’s case from Akron, and one aspect that keeps me up at night is how such a significant event happened near a pretty busy intersection like Laton Street and East Avenue, yet nobody seems to have witnessed the actual altercation. It's a busy area, and you'd think someone might have noticed something out of the ordinary that night.
I wonder if there were any reports of people hearing or seeing anything strange around that time. Even though it was Halloween, someone must have noticed a commotion or something unusual. Maybe the fact that it was a holiday contributed to it being overlooked? This just makes me think about how small details can be easily missed or forgotten over time.
I really hope that renewed attention on the case will jog someone’s memory after all these years. Edwin and his family deserve answers, and even the slightest remembrance from a local might help crack this case open. ?
If anyone here has any thoughts or knows anything, please don't hold back. Every little bit helps.
Stay safe and take care, everyone ?
