I've been thinking about the role of Lucky, Melvin's dog, in his disappearance. It's puzzling that both Melvin and his dog vanished without a trace. Dogs can be pretty loyal and often stick close to their owners, especially in distressing situations. I wonder if Lucky could have been a key witness if only he could speak. The fact that Lucky was missing from the truck makes me think he might've been with Melvin during whatever happened. Has there been any mention of search efforts specifically for Lucky? Sometimes a dog's instincts can lead to crucial clues. If anyone in the area remembers seeing a stray dog matching Lucky's description around March 2002, it might help piece together Melvin's movements around the time he disappeared. Just a thought!
