I've always been intrigued by how the community responded when Joyce Renee Durham went missing back in 2007. Given the pattern of disappearances during that time in Rocky Mount, especially with many of the women having similar backgrounds, it must have been a tense and frightening environment. Does anyone know if the community organized any watch groups or safety measures in their neighborhoods because of these cases? It seems like a situation that would definitely spur a lot of local action and concern. Also, were there efforts to offer support to those involved in risky situations, considering the history of drug use and prostitution among the missing women? I wonder if these measures, if any, had a lasting impact on the community.
