I was researching Dennis Dillinger's disappearance, and something caught my attention. The areas he was possibly headed to—Lake Powell and the Superstition Mountains—are popular with both tourists and locals. But, it's December, and the weather can be unpredictable around these places. Could Dennis have been caught in unexpected conditions that might have disoriented him or led to an accident?
I remember reading a few years back about some hikers who underestimated the cold snap in Arizona’s higher elevations. The Superstition Mountains are known for their rugged terrain, and while they're gorgeous, they can be challenging for the unprepared. Does anyone know if there were any reports of bad weather around that time, or has anyone else made the trip around December that can share what the conditions are usually like?
Maybe this has been mentioned elsewhere, but it seems like an angle worth considering since weather can be a surprise factor in disappearances, especially in areas where cell service is spotty. Just curious to hear anyone else's thoughts or experiences with that area during winter months.
Hey everyone,
I've been piecing together some possible routes Dennis might have taken if he was indeed heading towards the Superstition Mountains after leaving Page. Has anyone considered the weather conditions on those roads around early December? Given how unpredictable the mountain weather can be, especially near the Apache Trail (Rt 88), I'm concerned about road safety. Could poor visibility or road closures have played a role in his disappearance? It might seem like a small detail, but it could explain why no one has spotted his car or any signs of him. Anyone familiar with these roads around that time of year who can share their experiences?
