Hey everyone, I just stumbled upon the case of James Colin Egan, and something that caught my attention was the time period he went missing—1972. That era was notorious for numerous hitchhiker disappearances across the U.S. Does anyone know if there were any major incidents or serial cases around San Francisco to Denver during that time frame? Considering the lack of modern communication tools back then, it must have been such a challenge to track someone's movements. I can't help but wonder if similar cases from that period might hold some clues about his disappearance.
I came across a newspaper article from back in the '70s regarding this case, and it mentioned something quite peculiar that I've never seen discussed here. Apparently, James had a habit of documenting his travels extensively in a small notebook. Has anyone come across any details about whether this notebook was ever found? Could it have been in his possession at the time of his disappearance? It might contain crucial clues about the people he met or places he visited on his journey. The report didn't provide specifics, but I wonder if the authorities ever searched for it, or if it's still out there somewhere. Maybe someone he encountered found it or it was left behind in San Francisco or somewhere en route to Denver. Thoughts?
Hey everyone, I’ve been digging into the case of James Colin Egan and am curious about something. Given that James was hitchhiking on his way to Denver from San Francisco, I wonder if anyone has looked into possible sightings or incidents during that route around the time he disappeared. It was the early '70s, and the culture was very different back then, but there were still a lot of transient communities, especially around those areas. Has there been any attempt to reconstruct his possible path, or talk to folks who might have been traveling those same roads? It feels like there might be someone out there who remembers an encounter but hasn't realized its significance. Thoughts?
