I've been really diving into the details regarding Vicki Lynn Hollar's disappearance, and one thing that stands out to me is her habit of picking up hitchhikers. In the early '70s, hitchhiking was pretty common and generally viewed as relatively safe. But in hindsight, knowing what we now know about that era and people like Ted Bundy roaming around, it's chilling to think about the potential risks she could have unknowingly faced because of this habit. Did anyone from that time remember if the police or the community in Eugene were aware of the dangers? I wonder if there was a strong focus on cautioning young people, especially women, about the potential dangers of picking up strangers. It seems this aspect of her regular routine could have made her more vulnerable. Would love to hear from anyone who was in the area back then or knows more about the local atmosphere during that time. Could this habit have been a key factor that unfortunately led to her vanishing?

I’ve been following Vicki Lynn Hollar’s case for a while now, and something that’s always intrigued me is her black 1965 Volkswagen Beetle. It’s so strange that neither her car nor her purse were ever found. I keep wondering if there might be some clues hidden in the fact that her car was never located. Did it just vanish without a trace, or was it possibly repurposed with new plates and a new look, perhaps even taken out of state? The Illinois license plates might have made it stand out more in Oregon back then. I wish we could get more information on whether there was a search specifically focused on locating the vehicle early on. It might have answered some critical questions about her movements or whoever could have taken her. Does anyone know if the authorities have ever revisited the vehicle aspect of the case?
