Hey everyone, I've been researching the Richard Koch case, and I came across something interesting about Bemidji, MN, where he intended to travel on the day he went missing. It's an area known for its beautiful scenery, and a lot of outdoor activities, but I read that back in the late 80s, there was a lot of traffic coming in and out for logging and other industries. It seems like a place with tons of transient workers and folks passing through, which might complicate investigations if he ran into someone involved in less savory activities. I wonder if anyone else has dug into what the local scene was like back then or if any old newspaper archives could offer additional context or clues? Just thinking out loud here, but the more we understand the area and its dynamics at that time, the better we might grasp what could've happened to him. Any insights or avenues to explore would be appreciated!

Has anyone else come across the eerie lack of detail surrounding Richard Koch's disappearance? It's strange how some cases get so much media attention, while others like his seem to slip through the cracks. I've been looking into this case, and there seems to be no information about his acquaintance or the context of their trip to Bemidji. You'd think after 30+ years, there'd be some clue or a sighting somewhere. It's almost like Richard vanished without leaving a trace. Has anyone been able to uncover any possible reasons why he was heading to Bemidji that might provide some insight into what happened?

I remember reading about Richard Koch's case a while ago, and something that stuck with me is the fact that he was traveling with an acquaintance to Bemidji. It makes me wonder who this acquaintance was and if they were ever thoroughly questioned. Did anyone ever dig into their background or connection to Richard? It seems odd that no traces of Richard were ever found, especially if he wasn't traveling alone. I feel like this aspect of the case might hold more answers than what's currently known. Maybe someone out there also remembers the person he was with and can provide more insight. Would love to hear thoughts or any new information others might have come across.
