It’s been years, but I can’t stop thinking about how senseless Charlie Conklin’s murder was. I didn’t know him personally, but I’d run into him at United Foods sometimes, and he always had this friendly smile that made you feel safe. I remember hearing about the vigil — so many people showed up to honor him, and it’s clear he touched a lot of lives with his kindness. What haunts me is the image of that night. It’s so disturbing to think he might have been trying to stop a shoplifter when his life was cut short. The randomness of it all just makes it even harder to process. I truly hope that one day his family can find some peace and that the police get the tip they need to crack this case. I wonder if anyone else here thinks it’s possible the suspects might have known him. It’s just a thought, but maybe that could explain some of the fear and secrecy about coming forward with information. Sending strength and peace to his loved ones.
