I've been following John Clifton Butler's case, and something I've been curious about is the role his mental health struggles might play in his disappearance. Given that he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and had been in and out of institutions, it's possible that he went off the grid intentionally or wound up in a place where help wasn't readily available or recognized. Schizophrenia can cause someone to mistrust people, including authorities and medical personnel, which makes me wonder if he might have been avoiding areas where he could be observed or documented. Also, how significant do you all think the inheritance factor is? Could the notice of potential funds have pushed someone with ill intentions to finally report him missing, or is that just a coincidence? Would love to hear others' thoughts on this.
