Has anyone else read about the Angleworm Trail in the BWCA where Lloyd Skelton went missing? I recently hiked that trail and couldn't help but think about how quickly the weather can change. It's eerie knowing that someone with as much experience as Lloyd vanished without a trace there. I keep wondering about the "paradoxical undressing" thing they mentioned and how disorienting it must have been for him. It reminds me to always be prepared for the unexpected while hiking, even if you're super experienced. Does anyone have thoughts on whether the trail conditions might've played a part in losing his way?
I was just reading through Skelton's case, and something that stands out to me is the weather conditions at the time. If he was such an experienced outdoorsman, he must have known the risks of hiking in bad weather, right? I'm wondering what kind of gear he had with him on that day. Was it enough for the unexpected cold? It's odd to me that an expert would be caught off guard by weather like that. Maybe it wasn't just about gear... perhaps he was trying to push his limits or test himself? If anyone has insights or knows more details about the weather that day or what he had prepared, I'd love to dig deeper into understanding what might have happened.
