Has anyone else been following the tragedy of Jacob Benavidez? I was reading some older articles and saw that there was a vigil held just two days after his passing. It struck me how much pain his family and friends were visibly in during that time. His mother, Jennifer, was pictured holding onto Jacob’s younger brother, and you can just see the overwhelming grief. It’s moments like these that remind me of the human cost of violence, and how it affects every single person connected to the victim. I really hope this case eventually sees justice, not just for Jacob and his family, but for the sake of the community as a whole. Anyone local to Long Beach remember attending or know more about community initiatives that have come up in the wake of Jacob’s death?
