Did anyone else feel a pang of empathy for Joseph Neely's family as they had to wait years to see justice for his murder? Knowing that his case helped in the conviction of Joseph Carroll is a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, it's some comfort that the killer was eventually caught and held responsible, but on the other hand, the wait must have been excruciating for those who loved Joseph. It makes me wonder about all the other families affected by these violent gang activities in Oakland during that time. How they must cope with such prolonged uncertainty is beyond me. My thoughts are with them.
