I’ve been digging into the case of Forrest Atmore Stanton, and something that piqued my curiosity is the note he left about finding a “new job” inspecting fire damage. It seems odd for him to take on such a job at 77, especially out of nowhere. Was this a regular thing for him, taking odd jobs, or something he's done before? I wonder if anyone else was aware of this plan or if it really was a spontaneous decision. Given the grass fires near Pompey’s Pillar, it could make sense he'd feel a pull to return there, but the whole thing feels off. Anyone have insights on why he’d head there so suddenly, or more details on any previous work related to these fires?
